Sport & PE

Welcome to the Physical Education section of the website.

Across the school, students have access to a wide range of equipment and apparatus.  To complement this, the school uses a resource called Real PE. Real PE provides fun and simple to follow Schemes of Work and support for Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) practitioners that give them the confidence and skills to deliver outstanding PE. It is fully aligned to the National Curriculum and Ofsted requirements and focuses on the development of agility, balance and coordination, healthy competition and cooperative learning through a unique and market leading approach to teaching and learning in PE. Further information about Real PE can be located online at:

Furthermore, the school is also connected with which offers support to both staff and students through a range of workshops, coaching sessions, festivals and competitions in a wide range of sports. This provides students with an external focus to strive towards and the honour of representing the school against other schools!

Already in Term 1 of this year alone, students have participated in a Biathlon and a Cross Country running event. Students have had the opportunity to take part in afterschool clubs, many of these are related directly to sports. In addition to afterschool clubs, a number of ‘pop up’ clubs have taken place during lunch times to offer students with further opportunities to practise and hone their skills. A number of in house competitions are being planned across the year, with an in house dodge ball competition beginning at lunch times in Term 1.2.

The school is advantageously located on the outskirts of Solihull, deep in the countryside. This creates opportunities to explore footpaths as running trails, orienteering and an established Forest School section.  Two hardstanding outdoor areas provide space for playtimes and outdoor Physical Education lessons with markings for netball and a number of playground style games to develop cognitive and physical development. A nearby sports field including football goals provides the arena for athletics in the summer term where the picturesque location is transformed into a 400m grassy running track.

Years 2 and 3 have weekly swimming lessons during the Autumn Term off-site.

An ambitious department; Developing and Motivational

With access to outside coaches in martial arts, dance, cricket and football As well as teaching and support staff with interests and experience in coaching a number of sports such football, basketball, netball, to name but a few! We are also lucky to have Miss Tinley on the team to support across the department! The profile of PE is growing within Lady K with future developments such as new sports kit on the horizon! If you are interesting in contributing to this area of school life get in touch!  If anyone has an old rowing machine that they do not want, and you would like to donate/lend to the school I would love to offer the students at Lady K opportunities to learn indoor rowing – certain concept 2 machines can be linked up together to combine a virtual boat race if there is more than one!

Go Team Lady K!
